MHWFYYTMDF Chapter4

Sleeping in the Bedroom

The car drove smoothly all the way before arriving at the Platinum Community. Li Xiu’s homework had been done thoroughly; he even knew which unit and room number Song Li lived in. Standing before the door, he pressed the doorbell. It took three full rings before any movement could be heard inside.

By this point, He Muyan’s expression beside him had already darkened considerably.

“Who is it? Ringing the bell in the middle of the night, don’t you know you’re disturbing the peace?!”

The door in front of them swung open, accompanied by the grumbling complaints of a young man.

A flushed little face poked out. He was quite handsome, but his attire was rather inappropriate; a tank top and oversized boxer shorts, and his body carried a pungent, overwhelming stench of alcohol.

For a moment, Li Xiu thought he had walked to the wrong door.

He turned his head to check the room number, and after confirming he hadn’t made a mistake, he asked with a smile, “Excuse me, is this the home of Mr. Song Li?”

“Mr. Song?” The young man let out a beer burp with one hand carelessly scratching his belly. “What do you want with my Song Ge? I don’t know you ah.”

“Oh, we are…”

“Xue Sang, what are you lingering at the door for? Who is it that comes in the middle of the night ah?”

Before Li Xiu could finish his sentence, another person’s voice echoed from inside the apartment. The sound of slippered footsteps came pattering over, and soon that person appeared at the doorway as well.

He had clearly had quite a lot to drink too. Dressed in the exact same style of tank top and boxers as the handsome young man, the stench of alcohol instantly doubled with the two of them standing together.

Li Xiu beamed a smile at him, “Mr. Song.”

Song Li blinked. First, he saw Li Xiu’s amiable, smiling face. Then, shifting his gaze, he saw a black-faced Buddha looming behind him.

Huh? A black-faced Buddha?

He processed this for three seconds. It felt as though an entire basin of ice water had been poured over him, instantly jolting his mind awake and sobering him up completely.

“Y-You… why are you guys here!”

Li Xiu smiled. “Mr. Song, have you forgotten? Today is…”

“What’s what? Ge, do you know them? Who are these people, coming to disturb the peace in the middle of the night? They’re all dressed properly like decent folks, but that handsome guy in the back looks pretty good. That face, tsk, tsk…”

“Xue Sang!”

Song Li yanked him back in one harsh pull while gritting his teeth, “You’re drunk. Shut up.”

“What do you mean? I just…”

Not wanting to listen to him act like a rowdy drunk any longer, Song Li dragged him by the arm, stuffed him into the bedroom, and locked the door behind him.

After settling his emotions, he returned to the entryway.

Li Xiu still maintained his benevolent, gentle expression, smiling slightly at him.

Song Li was practically breaking into a cold sweat. Clutching his hair, he looked at them awkwardly. “I’m sorry to make such a scene. I didn’t know you guys were coming.”

As he spoke, he couldn’t resist stealing a furtive glance at He Muyan in the back.

Heavens. His face looked even more terrifyingly dark than it had been a moment ago.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration at all to say he looked like he was about to go chop someone down the next second.

“Um…” Song Li spoke up awkwardly, “Would you like to come in and sit for a bit?”

Based on his understanding of his boss’s habits, Li Xiu was just about to reject the offer politely. But before he could open his mouth, he felt a gust of chilly wind brush past him, and He Muyan strode right inside with his long legs.

Song Li was clearly startled by this inside the apartment. He exchanged a glance with Li Xiu, his smile looking even more miserable than a crying face.

The three of them entered the apartment together. The stench of alcohol in the living room was even heavier than outside, with empty beer cans strewn all over the floor in front of the sofa.

He Muyan stood perfectly still, his gaze deathly fixed on the messy wreck all over the ground.

Song Li genuinely wanted to find a hole to crawl into. Crouching down, he rushed over to scoop up the beer bottles on the floor. “I’m so sorry, we drank a bit too much. I’ll clean this right up. Please sit, go ahead and take a seat.”

Although the floor looked messy, it was mostly just beer bottles, and Song Li managed to clear it all away in no time. Standing in front of the sofa, he looked at them restlessly.

“Would you guys like something to drink? I can go grab it for you.”

He Muyan finally deigned to shift his gaze onto him. He just stared down at him like that, completely silent.

Li Xiu had already tactfully retreated out of their line of sight.

Song Li’s scalp went numb from his staring. Throwing caution to the wind, he turned his head away and said, “Don’t look at me like that. I’m usually not like this.”

The corner of He Muyan’s mouth twitched as he uttered his first sentence of the night, “Are you in a bad mood?”

Song Li was stunned, his fingers unconsciously twisting at the seam of his pants as he remained silent.

He Muyan didn’t seem to care about hearing a response either. He sized up the surrounding environment before offering an evaluation, “Your apartment is decorated quite nicely.”

Not expecting him to shift topics so rapidly, Song Li followed his gaze around the room and said with quite a bit of pride, “Well, of course! I put a massive amount of effort into the interior design of this place. I shadowed the contractor 24/7 to supervise the work; if even a single tiny detail wasn’t to my liking, it wouldn’t pass. I nearly drove the renovation workers insane back then.”

Looking at his proud little expression, He Muyan smoothly added, “It’s just too small.”

Song Li was instantly rendered speechless, offering an awkward smile. “Is that so? It’s a hundred or so square meters… it’s still okay, I suppose…”

He Muyan nodded. “For an ordinary person, it is indeed considered decent.”

Song Li felt deeply stung by the words “ordinary person.”

Fine! He was just a perfectly mediocre ordinary person who could only afford a small, hundred-square-meter apartment!

If He Muyan hadn’t delivered those words with an utterly flat and sincere tone and expression, he would have definitely thought this bastard was just being incredibly arrogant and mercilessly sarcastic.

But judging from his experience interacting with this guy over the past few times, he could actually tell that He Muyan was simply that kind of person; he spoke his mind directly. Even if you were occasionally hurt or triggered by his words, to him, he was merely calmly stating a fact that he observed.

He Muyan clearly didn’t notice that Song Li had been wounded by his “ordinary person” comment, continuing, “What I mean is, this place is too small to serve as our matrimonial home. I think we can move to my place.”

Huh? Matrimonial home?

It took Song Li two seconds to process this before he finally understood what the man meant by bringing up all that meaningless talk earlier.

Right, they had literally just registered their marriage today. They were newlywed husbands, and a new marriage naturally required a new home.

But the issue was that both of them were men, and both owned properties, so whose apartment to use as their matrimonial home became a question.

In reality, however, Song Li didn’t think this question was much of a major issue. The gap between them was vast no matter how one looked at it, and though it was a bit spineless, Song Li had implicitly assumed he would be the one playing the feminine role from the very beginning.

Whether it was in bed or regarding the dominant control over the marriage.

Yet He Muyan hadn’t thought that way. Even though his conditions in every aspect were blessed with natural superiority, he still stood in Song Li’s shoes to consider things for him, such as the matter of the house.

He had purposely come here to see the place in person, factoring in all the conditions. Compared to Song Li’s place, his own house was obviously much more suitable for two people to live together, which was why he made this suggestion to Song Li.

It was clearly such a simple matter, yet he had gone in such a massive circle for it.

Song Li wanted to laugh a little, suddenly finding this taciturn He Muyan, who preferred using direct, practical action to state his intentions, was a bit cute.

Seeing that he hadn’t answered for a long time, the look He Muyan directed at him grew noticeably puzzled. Song Li then spoke with a smile, “Sure.”

He Muyan nodded. “Then pack your things. We will head over tonight.”

Song Li was astonished. “This rush ah?”

He Muyan turned his head back, his expression somewhat baffled. “We are married, so we should live together, shouldn’t we?”

Yes, yes, yes; absolutely.

Song Li nodded in agreement. “Then, please sit for a moment. I’ll go pack right away.”

Ten minutes later, Song Li was packed and had even changed his clothes on the way. With only a suitcase and a backpack, he brought over some of his daily necessities first. The rest could be moved over little by little later; there was no rush.

He Muyan stood up and smoothly took over the rolling suitcase from his hand.

As they were about to leave, He Muyan glanced back at the room behind them.

It was the room where Song Li had locked Xue Sang inside.

Noticing the confusion in his eyes, Song Li explained to him, “It’s fine. He’s dead to the world. I left him a spare key; he’ll leave on his own when he wakes up tomorrow.”

“You are very close with him.”

“We’re alright, we grew up together. We’ve been close friends for nearly twenty years.”

He Muyan nodded and said nothing more.

The moment they stepped out, Li Xiu took the suitcase from He Muyan’s hand. It was already late into the night outside, and waves of cold wind kept blowing past. Song Li noticed He Muyan massaging the area near his temples with his fingers from time to time.

Li Xiu smiled and explained to him, “It’s an old ailment of the boss’s. He easily gets migraines whenever he catches a chill. He’s been working non-stop all day today, so he’s completely exhausted.”

Song Li nodded, thinking to himself that even a massive boss with this much money didn’t have it easy either.

By the time they arrived at He Muyan’s residence, it was already incredibly late. Sitting in the backseat, Song Li looked out the window at the villa district constantly flashing past, desperately wishing he could travel back in time thirty minutes to beat up his past self; the one who had smugly flaunted that small, hundred-square-meter apartment right in front of He Muyan.

He really not knowing any better.

After dropping them off at He Muyan’s house, Li Xiu headed back. Before leaving, He Muyan instructed him to come pick him up at nine tomorrow morning.

Song Li couldn’t help but sigh inwardly that being a personal secretary really was no easy job.

After finishing his sighing, it was time to consider his own situation. Holding his backpack in his hand with his rolling suitcase resting by his feet, he turned his head to look around this absurdly large living room.

“Mr. He, do you have a guest room here?”

He Muyan was currently pouring water. Hearing this, he raised an eyebrow and looked at him. “What did you call me?”

“Mr. He…” After saying it, Song Li himself also felt that something was amiss. Calling the legal husband you just registered a marriage certificate with “Mister” did seem a little too distant.

“Then… what should I call you?”

He Muyan took another sip of water. “Whatever.”

This “whatever” was truly a bit too casual. Song Li thought about it. Should he call him Muyan? The two of them weren’t close at all; calling him that directly felt a bit bizarre.

Calling him just by the single character “Yan”? Oh my god, why does this suddenly have such a strong old-school Mary Sue romance vibe?

That wouldn’t do. Should he call him Laogong1Husband or hubby.?

Song Li shuddered. Have I gone mad?

Since he truly couldn’t think of anything appropriate, he simply dropped the title altogether and asked directly, “Then, do you have a guest room here?”

“There is a guest room; the one on the left is it. What are you looking for a guest room for?”

Song Li lifted the backpack in his hand. “It’s getting late. I need to hurry up, put my things away, and get some rest.”

He Muyan glanced at his luggage while knitting his brows. “You want to sleep in the guest room?”

“Ah.”

“Why sleep in a guest room when there is a perfectly good master bedroom?”

Song Li asked, “I can sleep in the master bedroom?”

“En.”

Song Li asked again, “If I sleep in the master bedroom, what about you?”

He Muyan looked at him with a thorough helpless expression. “I am sleeping in the master bedroom too.”

Song Li: “……”

Song Li: “Oh.”
