Carrying him, he stumbled through the door and tumbled onto the sofa. Zhan Shili pressed Xu Shen beneath him, kneading him roughly and kissing him wantonly.
Suggestive gasps intertwined in the darkness, fermenting and amplifying as lips and tongues mingled in an endless dance.
Xu Shen felt the tip of his tongue get bitten and every inch of his mouth licked. Zhan Shili’s hot breath poured in, leaving him unable to refuse.
Saliva he couldn’t hold in leaked out from the corners of his mouth, smearing across his chin.
As the kiss ended, their lips and tongues separated slightly. Zhan Shili panted heavily, licked Xu Shen’s lips and chin, and asked in a hoarse voice, “How did you find your way here?”
“Secretly looked at your file at the company,” Xu Shen laughed softly. “This place was pretty easy to find.”
He asked in return, “Nic, did you just eat candy? So sweet.”
“Mn.” Zhan Shili gave his lips one final lick, propped himself up, and with a snap, switched on the lights.
Xu Shen was still lying on the sofa unmoving, staring straight at him, eyes bright. Zhan Shili reached out and gently touched his face: “Behave.”
What was actually not behaving was his own restless instincts; the fact that Xu Shen had not been stripped completely naked just now was him desperately exercising restraint.
Having not eaten dinner yet, Zhan Shili got up and went to the kitchen, intending to make something to eat and fill his stomach first.
Xu Shen explored his apartment. The place wasn’t large, with cold, black-and-white decor that was quite fitting for Zhan Shili’s personality.
He followed him and asked, “You’re back this late but still haven’t eaten yet?”
“Went for a drive,” Zhan Shili said casually, opening the fridge to select a few ingredients. “Failed at asking Young Master Shen out, got too lazy to find a place to eat.”
“Can’t you ask the Third Young Master out?” Xu Shen said. “If you took the initiative to ask him out, he’d definitely be over the moon. Nic, I’m not that controlling; if you want to ask him out, go ahead. I know that you have no choice, and I can understand.”
Zhan Shili turned back to look at him. Leaning against a nearby cabinet, Xu Shen spoke very sincerely with a sensible, reasonable attitude.
Two seconds later, Zhan Shili retracted his gaze, choosing not to expose him—when it came to acting, Xu Shen didn’t lose to him at all, playing the role of a pure, innocent, and submissive flower as easily as breathing.
Zhan Shili simply seared a steak and mixed a small vegetable salad, asking Xu Shen if he wanted any. Xu Shen answered, “No, I had fried rice at my godbrother’s place, I’m full.”
“Your godbrother is Cai Lihao, the leader of Heyi Society?” Zhan Shili asked out of nowhere.
Unfazed, Xu Shen replied, “So you know.”
Zhan Shili commented, “The bar where you drink and the hotel where Eldest Young Master fell to his death are both properties of Heyi Society. Asking around casually would reveal it. No wonder the boss couldn’t check your background properly before, letting you return smoothly.”
Xu Shen admitted, “My godbrother did indeed help out.”
Zhan Shili continued, “After the Eldest Young Master had his accident, the police caused them no small amount of trouble, but found nothing. In the end, it was ruled as an accident caused by a waiter delivering the wrong meal.”
Xu Shen pretended not to understand what his words were hinting at: “Those were all coincidences. My godbrother retired from the underworld and washed his hands of it long ago; his businesses are all legitimate now.”
Zhan Shili nodded slightly: “I dealt with him once before. He brought people over to discuss a project with the boss. Although the boss gave some face and met him, he had no intention of considering a partnership with him at all, even if that business was very profitable.”
Xu Shen said: “I heard my godbrother mention it. He said that people in my father’s circle were all snobbish and looked down on people with his kind of background.”
“It’s to be expected,” Zhan Shili said. “The boss is also worried about getting into trouble and doesn’t dare to be involved in business with people who have backgrounds in triads.”
Xu Shen sneered disdainfully, “That’s prejudice on his part. What about you, Nic? Do you dare?”
Zhan Shili assumed an indifferent attitude: “I even dared to let you into my home, what else wouldn’t I dare to do?”
Xu Shen said with satisfaction, “I knew you were different from others.”
Changing the subject, Zhan Shili returned to an earlier point, proposing: “I’ll hand the Eldest Young Mistress’s cousin over to you. You’ll have complete control over the eldest young mistress. Is that enough to make you happy?”
Xu Shen was a bit surprised: “Really?”
Zhan Shili nodded: “Really.”
Xu Shen smiled and asked, “Then what do you want in return?”
He didn’t quite believe that Zhan Shili would suddenly change his personality just because he had slept with him once.
However Zhan Shili said, “Nothing. As long as you’re happy.”
Xu Shen was amused: “I’d be too embarrassed to take it just like that.”
Zhan Shili asked, “Are you someone who gets embarrassed?”
“Alright then,” Xu Shen accepted his goodwill, “Thanks.”
Zhan Shili hummed slowly in agreement, cut a piece of steak, and put it to Xu Shen’s mouth: “Try it.”
Xu Shen bit it off his fork and marvelled, “Your cooking skills are better than mine.”
Zhan Shili said, “Next time, don’t come after you’ve already eaten.”
After finishing dinner, Zhan Shili went to take a shower, turned on the TV and told Xu Shen to make himself at home.
Xu Shen listened absentmindedly to the sound of water coming from the bathroom, paying no attention to what was playing on TV. A few minutes later, he got up and walked towards the bathroom.
Zhan Shili was showering with his back to the bathroom door as he washed his hair when someone came up behind him and wrapped their arms around his waist. As if he had expected this, he calmly rinsed the shampoo off his hair before turning around.
Xu Shen, still dressed and soaked to the bone, grinned at him through the dense, watery mist.
“I haven’t finished showering yet, what are you doing in here?” Zhan Shili asked.
Xu Shen said, “It thundered just now, and your home seems to have had a power outage. I’m a little scared staying outside, all alone.”
It was a sentence that was both true and false; instinct told Zhan Shili that he was faking it, yet he couldn’t help but recall what he said before about being “scared of the dark.”
“I don’t have suitable clothes for you to change into here. Or are you planning to have your secretary deliver some again tomorrow morning?” Zhan Shili said as he helped Xu Shen unbutton and take off his drenched shirt. “Isn’t it tiring playing like this every time?”
Xu Shen disagreed with what he said: “How am I playing?”
After stripping the person completely bare, Zhan Shili pinched his chin with one hand: “So what exactly did you come to my place for?”
Xu Shen hooked his arms around Zhan Shili’s back, stepped forward, and pressed his lips against his: “I missed you.”
He was so sensual that it was impossible to refuse.
Zhan Shili picked Xu Shen up and pressed him against the wall. He propped one of his legs up and draped it around his own waist, kissing him back passionately.
They still didn’t use anything else1I’m assuming this means condoms/lube, it’s probably not like no spit/the water from the shower is used to loosen up a little… just imagine it like that, otherwise it would be too painful to think about.. Xu Shen preferred it to be direct, wrapping around Zhan Shili, revealing every part of himself to the man without reservation. His hands roamed over Zhan Shili’s back, falling and sinking into the decadence and depravity of the surging rhythm.
After it was over, Zhan Shili checked the electricity meter. It had been forecasted early that morning that there would be a thunderstorm, and this was an outage caused by unstable voltage right when it thundered.
A simple fix, and the power was soon restored.
The lights in the room turned back on. Lying on the bed, Xu Shen lazily lifted his eyelids. Noticing something on the nightstand, he casually reached over to pick it up and found that it was a handwritten invitation to the opening of a teahouse salon.
Signed “Joanna,” Zhan Shili’s confidante.
Xu Shen stared at it for a while. Zhan Shili walked in and sat down beside him: “What are you looking at?”
“This invitation,” Xu Shen said slowly, “Didn’t you say before that you and this Mrs. Liang met at a teahouse salon in London? Is she inviting you to rekindle past flames?”
Zhan Shili took a look and said, “She plans to open her own salon. I might not necessarily have the time to attend, we’ll see.”
Xu Shen stared at the invitation in his hand for a moment longer before tossing it behind him nonchalantly, lowering his eyes and concealing the emotions in them.
His phone vibrated slightly; Xu Zikang sent a message saying it was storming outside, and their dad asked where he was, when he would be back, and if he needed a driver to go pick him up.
Zhan Shili caught a glimpse of it and commented, “Seems like your father really cares about you as his son.”
“You believe it?” Xu Shen turned to look at him and said with a laugh, “A son he never raised since childhood, and didn’t spare a glance for even when dead—how much care could that be? He just wants to put on a show of fatherly devotion now that he sees that I have some use to him.”
“Mn. Then are you going back?”
“No,” Xu Shen said without even thinking twice, “It’s raining heavily outside and there’s thunder. I’m not leaving unless you kick me out.”
Zhan Shili’s palm pressed against his exposed back, sliding down to the small of his waist where it stopped: “Suit yourself.”
Xu Shen let out a soft hiss. The small of his waist was his sensitive spot, and it felt somewhat ticklish: “Don’t move.”
He picked up his phone, casually took a photo—half of his own body and a corner of Zhan Shili’s bathrobe—and sent it to Xu Zikang: [In a lover’s embrace, tell Father I’m not going back tonight.]
Xu Zikang replied to him: [OK, have fun.]
Xu Shen sneered. Idiot.
The strength of Zhan Shili’s fingertips increased as he pressed him again. Xu Shen looked over with complaint: “What are you doing?”
“Is it fun playing this kind of hiding-in-plain-sight game?” Zhan Shili asked.
Xu Shen snorted: “I’m not. It’s clearly because you feel guilty that you’re thinking all these crooked thoughts.”
Zhan Shili disagreed: “Why would I feel guilty?”
He did indeed lack a guilty conscience; he was always open and honest when he used unscrupulous methods to coax and deceive people. The word “guilt” seemed to be non-existent in Zhan Shili’s dictionary.
Xu Shen looked into his eyes: “Xu Zikang, Joanna, and even my stepmother… just how many people have you used your tricks on?”
Zhan Shili asked in response, “Do you count?”
Xu Shen said, “Am I the same as them in your eyes?”
Zhan Shili answered, “Whether it’s the same or not, don’t you already know?”
Xu Shen leaned over and straddled him, looking at him up close.
Zhan Shili leaned back against the headboard, expressionless.
Pressing their foreheads together, Xu Shen whispered, “Nic, can you treat me a little better?”
Zhan Shili asked, “Am I not good enough to you now?”
“Not really,” Xu Shen murmured, “You’re too charming, and I’m afraid you won’t want me.”
Zhan Shili was genuinely amused by him: “Then behave more.”
Xu Shen licked his lips: “Still want to continue?”
Zhan Shili ran his fingers through Xu Shen’s hair: “Knowing full well I have many romantic debts, and you still dare to do it with me without a condom… are you not afraid of getting sick?”
“Scared?” Xu Shen said softly. “I don’t care what you’re like. I’ve already given you all that I have to offer. You promised before that you would take responsibility for me.”
Feeling slightly helpless, Zhan Shili still took the bait despite knowing full well these were words Xu Shen intentionally used to curry favor.
“How do you want me to take responsibility?”
“What you just said about making me happy,” Xu Shen said. “Just giving one person to me isn’t enough.”
“Is that so?” Zhan Shili asked, following his lead. “What else do you want?”
Xu Shen was straightforward: “Help me kick out Liao Zhihong. You can manage, right?”
Previously, it was Zhan Shili who told him that Manager Liao had problems, but now Xu Shen turned around and demanded Zhan Shili to stick his head out for him.
Zhan Shili’s eyes darkened: “Young Master Shen can’t do it himself?”
“Inconvenient,” Xu Shen said matter-of-factly, “I can’t let my second brother feel that I’m targeting him too blatantly, and my father would also think my ambition is too big; I still need to keep a low profile. You’re different. Isn’t my father having you keep an eye on the company now, reporting everything to him, big or small? It’s within your duties.”
Zhan Shili saw right through him: “Previously you said I was using you as a weapon; in truth, you’re the one who wants to use me as a weapon, right?”
“Will you help me?”
Xu Shen’s smiling eyes melted into a flirtatious glance2simply translating the chapter title (which is the same as this description) into just “a flirtatious glance” doesn’t do the original “秋波” enough justice, so I added the simile after it. It more accurately describes what the glance is, especially in terms of feeling, although it is not explicitly written like that in the raws., like ripples under moonlit waves: “Nic, in that family, only you can help me. You’re all I have left.”
Captivated by those eyes, Zhan Shili finally nodded: “I’ll do my best.”
