ALSACW – Chapter 144

Miss Yun Chuji had a job. Due to her transmigration, the weight of several thousand years of history rested upon her, enabling her to make the miraculous transformation from a woman confined to the inner quarters to an independent woman in just a few short years.

Yes, an independent woman, not an independent alpha.

It was a pity that Yun Chuji had yet to fully identify with being an alpha. Most of the time, she simply treated her alpha status as an external advantage and didn’t feel a strong sense of belonging to the gender—of course, she couldn’t control it during her ruts. At those times, her mind was completely filled with thoughts of her omega.

However, as she interacted with more and more alphas, this gender identity was gradually beginning to form. Perhaps one day in the future, she too would wear an expression of anger and humiliation when someone insulted alphas.

But not now. At this moment, an omega was standing before her, ranting about the heinous crimes of alphas. “You alphas occupy so many social resources, yet all you think about every day is seizing even more. How dare you call yourselves the superior gender?”

Yun Chuji said, “You have a point.”

The omega paused, then continued, “More importantly, it’s fundamentally wrong for you to promote yourselves as superior. It only creates an atmosphere of competition and has nothing to do with the vision of gender equality in the founding charter.”

Yun Chuji replied, “Yes, that’s true.”

The omega fell silent. “…”

“Are you humiliating me?” she asked quietly.

Yun Chuji was taken aback and insisted she had no such intention.

This omega had clearly come from one of the inner rings—one could be certain because she was completely out of place in this outermost ring district where they stood. To be specific, the dress she wore was probably worth enough to buy the entire street.

After all, it was the same style the Crown Prince had worn. Yun Chuji had happened to attend the Crown Prince’s investiture ceremony and, quite coincidentally, had overheard the nobles boasting about its price. Of course, her main purpose for being there had been to stand in for Tang Jianshen, who didn’t want to go. He had repeatedly rejected the Crown Prince’s presumptuous advances and therefore refused to attend any event where he might see him.

So now, this omega, who was clearly either rich or noble, had stopped Yun Chuji in the dirt-poor outermost ring—along with little Yun Zhouzhou, who was sucking on a baby bottle in her arms—and had begun to lecture her at length about her views on alphas and omegas.

“I believe you’re right. That’s always been my view as well, so I truly have no intention of humiliating you. I’m simply expressing my sincere agreement,” Yun Chuji replied earnestly, adjusting the pacifier in Yun Zhouzhou’s mouth.

The omega silently sized her up.

Her eyes traveled from Yun Chuji’s head to her toes, then shifted to the child in her arms.

She narrowed her eyes. Her exquisitely styled curls swayed slightly across her forehead, catching a faint golden glimmer of light.

It complemented her azure eyes.

Yun Chuji sighed. It seemed she was a member of the Hall family—not from the main imperial line, but likely from a favored branch.

After Clarence became Crown Prince, the imperial family’s style had clearly changed. More accurately, the imperial family had used Clarence as a stepping stone, seizing the opportunity to alter their methods to cater to an era that called for equality.

And this strange omega before her was likely an example of a style the imperial family was deliberately encouraging.

The omega snorted. “Are you insulting me?”

Yun Chuji shook her head. “Not at all. I just feel that perhaps you shouldn’t be saying such things to me. You should save words like these for people who disagree with them.”

The omega sneered. “Don’t think I don’t know. You alphas are all the same. You act all noble and righteous on the surface, but behind the scenes, it’s all alpha thievery and omega whoring!”

Yun Chuji froze for a moment, gently patting a slightly startled Yun Zhouzhou. She had no idea what kind of performance art this young omega lady was putting on, since the accusations didn’t apply to her in the slightest. So, Yun Chuji replied earnestly, “I’m sorry, but I don’t think we need to continue this conversation. You should go and direct your anger at the person who actually upset you.”

With that, Yun Chuji walked around her and headed toward her temporary residence.

The omega, left standing there, frowned. She didn’t look nearly as angry as she had just pretended to be. She then slapped her forehead and muttered, “What the-? Does the whole ‘bickering lovers’ routine not work anymore?”

The omega glanced down at her magnificent dress, then pulled out a device to look at her own magnificent face, and finally opened her terminal to compare herself with a news photo of Tang Jianxi.

The omega grumbled indignantly, “There’s not that much of a difference. Besides, I’m so much younger.”

The consequence was that over the next few days, Yun Chuji experienced a series of encounters: a “love at first sight” encounter, a “thrilling and dangerous” encounter, and an “attempt to fabricate a childhood connection” encounter.

Even someone as unperceptive as Yun Chuji in these matters could figure out what this strange omega was up to.

It was obvious. The omega wasn’t interested in her; she was trying to break her and Tang Jianxi up.

But her attempts were so clumsy that they could almost be dismissed as a joke.

Yun Chuji decided to call her wife for help, baby in arms.

Her wife arrived quickly, much faster than Yun Chuji had expected. It was as if she had been hiding behind the door the whole time, waiting for Yun Chuji’s call to burst in.

Of course, the reality was that Tang Jianxi arrived within an hour of the call.

Close enough. In any case, it was as if she weren’t the same person who, just yesterday, had claimed to be on another planet establishing an omega rights association.

Yun Chuji looked at Tang Jianxi with suspicion.

She thought for ten seconds before coming up with a ridiculous conclusion. “Did you send her?”

Tang Jianxi waved her hands frantically. “Why would I be stupid enough to hire someone to make a move on my own wife?!”

“But you were on Qinglan Star yesterday…”

Tang Jianxi’s expression grew awkward—the kind of awkwardness that comes from good intentions gone wrong.

Yun Chuji said, “So you did send her.”

“No!” Tang Jianxi retorted loudly.

Unfortunately, she startled Yun Zhouzhou. Seeing her daughter’s terrified, near-tears expression, Tang Jianxi slowly sidled up to Yun Chuji. She gave her daughter a smiling kiss, then planted an appeasing one on her wife.

Only then did she reluctantly explain, “She was sent by the imperial family. It’s probably another one of Clarence’s pranks born from unrequited love. He’s been pulling these kinds of stunts ever since he came to power. My brother is so fed up he’s tempted to drive the imperial family into bankruptcy.”

“So?” Yun Chuji prompted, hinting that she still hadn’t gotten to the point.

“So, um… it’s your fault.”

Tang Jianxi concluded, bafflingly.

And Yun Chuji was stunned by her baffling logic.

Now that she had voiced the thought hidden in her heart, the rest of the words came more easily. Tang Jianxi began to ramble. “You’ve changed. You’re not as cute as you used to be.”

“Your expressions used to be so vivid. One moment you’d be calling me a rogue, the next you’d say I was being frivolous. Your face would turn red after just a couple of compliments. It was so adorable. But now…”

Tang Jianxi paused, seeming to realize she wasn’t making much sense. She lowered her voice, forcing Yun Chuji to focus completely to hear her.

“You’re so mature now. Not in a good way, but not in a bad way either. It’s just… you can handle more things now, yes, but you’ve also become more… more reserved and composed.”

“I don’t even dare to tease you anymore,” Tang Jianxi complained, her voice barely a whisper.

“So you’ve been watching the show from nearby these past few days?” Yun Chuji asked. “Just to see me get flustered?”

With some difficulty, but bravely nonetheless, Tang Jianxi nodded.

Yun Chuji let out a sigh.

The sigh sent Tang Jianxi into a panic.

“You don’t doubt my love, do you? It’s not some seven-year itch where I like the younger you better or something, absolutely not! I just miss it a little, that’s all. You were just so cute, the kind of cute no one could deny. But I love the way you are now, too!”

“I love it very much!”

Tang Jianxi declared.

And so, poor two-year-old Yun Zhouzhou was startled by her mother yet again. This time, she couldn’t hold back and burst into tears.

Yun Chuji swallowed the words she wanted to say and focused on soothing their child. Tang Jianxi tried to help, but unfortunately, human evolution in the ABO era hadn’t done anything for infant memory. To Yun Zhouzhou, the mother she hadn’t seen in nearly a month was no different from a stranger. Coupled with her repeated “baby-scaring” antics, her “help” was more of a hindrance.

In the end, it was the AI nanny that solved everything.

With its pleasant music, soft, warm mechanical body, and perfectly calibrated touch, it successfully lulled the baby to sleep.

Now, only Yun Chuji and Tang Jianxi were left, staring at each other.

After a moment of silence.

Yun Chuji softly uttered a single word: “Sister.”

Tang Jianxi’s eyes widened.

Yun Chuji repeated, “Sister.”

“Or would ‘Sister Tang’ be better?”

Tang Jianxi started to cough. She turned her head away, as if for the sake of propriety and elegance, but between coughs, her hand-covered mouth still managed to stubbornly perform its function. “…Sister Tang.”

“Oh.” Yun Chuji stepped forward, gently patting Tang Jianxi’s back. She leaned close to her ear. “Sister Tang, are you satisfied?”

“Am I cute?”

Tang Jianxi coughed even more loudly.

Her face began to flush, but her eyes were bright with excitement.

By the time she finally caught her breath, Yun Chuji had already whispered “Sister Tang” in her ear countless times.

Once she recovered, Tang Jianxi didn’t hesitate. She pounced on Yun Chuji, tackling her onto the sofa. Like a happy puppy, she showered Yun Chuji’s face with kisses, displaying a fervor that only ever ignited in her presence.

“You’re not angry?” she asked.

Yun Chuji hummed, keeping her in suspense for a moment before a kiss from Tang Jianxi sealed the deal.

“I was a little angry at first. After all, you knew she had designs on me, and you just stood by and watched the show.”

“Later…”

“Because the way you looked just now, Jianxi, was also very cute. Much cuter than how you described me.”

“At least, that’s how I see it,” Teacher Yun added cautiously.

“And then I forgot I was angry.”

“Ah…”

Tang Jianxi’s mouth fell open.

Then she kissed Yun Chuji countless more times.
