CFHE Chapter 71.1

“Hello, are you awake?”

Early in the morning, Fu Yuhan’s phone rang. He answered it and heard an incredibly familiar voice from the receiver.

When Wen Yu spoke properly, his voice was warm and smooth, carrying a certain flowing rhythm like singing. Having such a voice say good morning in his ear in the early morning was like opening curtains to see a brilliant ray of sunlight, making the corners of one’s mouth unconsciously curve upward.

“Me? Of course I’m up.” Fu Yuhan glanced at the wall clock, his tone relaxed, “You’re the one who woke up early today.”

“Didn’t we agree to go get haircuts?” Wen Yu said through the receiver, “I’m already downstairs at your place. Come down when you’re ready.”

Fu Yuhan was slightly stunned.

The moment he reacted, he grabbed his backpack and locked the door and went downstairs at the fastest speed of his life.

But what he didn’t expect was that there wasn’t a person standing outside the apartment building, but rather a brand new black Allroad parked there. Seeing his figure, the car honked briefly.

“Wen Yu?”

Fu Yuhan’s eyes widened as he pressed against the passenger window to look inside, somewhat surprised.

Wen Yu rolled down the window and smiled at him: “It was ordered before New Year, just picked up the car yesterday. Get in.”

“But you didn’t mention it before?”

They had been together those few days during winter break.

Fu Yuhan opened the passenger door and got in, throwing his backpack to the back seat and starting to fasten his seatbelt.

“I deliberately didn’t tell you, planning to surprise you today.” Wen Yu coughed lightly, pretending he was joking, “You said you weren’t afraid to die if you rode in my car.”

“I’m not afraid… I just didn’t expect you to actually be driving.”

“Perfect for helping Yang Fan bring some things up the mountain, none of them have cars.” Wen Yu found a long piece of paper from beside him and threw it to Fu Yuhan, “Here, shopping list.”

Fu Yuhan glanced at it and found it was all drinks and such.

Water and beverages were the heaviest and hard to carry without a car. Yang Fan had said before that he would bring some barbecue meat and vegetables, and if it wasn’t enough, there were places to buy things on the mountain. The beverage task was left to Wen Yu.

“I also brought a few bottles of alcohol.” Wen Yu said while driving, glancing lightly at the person beside him, “Want to drink a little together tonight?”

Fu Yuhan was looking down at the list and didn’t notice his gaze. He just chuckled lightly at the words: “How can you be so addicted to alcohol?”

“That’s unfair, how long has it been since I touched alcohol after we drank beer together in class that one time?” Wen Yu said, “So will you drink or not?”

Fu Yuhan hummed: “I never said I wouldn’t drink.”

Wen Yu curved the corner of his lips.

His mood today was practically soaring. Getting the car wasn’t really anything special, but before New Year he had been too busy to go get haircuts together. Fu Yuhan had thought about it for two days but surprisingly didn’t bring Yang Fan along, and didn’t get his own hair cut either.

So according to plan, they were going out early today specifically to go to the hair salon first.

There’s a saying “cutting hair in the first lunar month will kill your uncle” – it’s unlucky. But when Wen Yu asked Fu Yuhan about this, he casually said he didn’t have an uncle.

What a coincidence, Wen Yu didn’t have an uncle either.

Now there was one more happy thing – “drinking together tonight.”

On the seventh day of the first lunar month, most shops had already reopened. Wen Yu drove to near the hair salon where he usually got his hair cut, parked the car and walked over with Fu Yuhan. Since they had made an appointment with the head stylist in advance, they didn’t have to wait. About an hour later, the two came out of the shop and went to the supermarket together to buy things.

After finishing shopping, it was close to 11 o’clock. The two bought some dry food to eat on the road, then drove toward West Mountain.

Yang Fan was already urging in the group.

Yang Fan: Has everyone set off?

Yang Fan: [Location info]

Yang Fan: Don’t go to the wrong place! I’m going out to pick up Tongtong now, see you on the mountain~

After more than a month of discussion and recruiting people, this group had unknowingly grown to twelve people.

Besides the original eight people, there were also Ge Ran, Chen Mengxian, Sun Wenrui, and Fang Jiayuan who joined the group later.

Calling Chen Mengxian and Sun Wenrui was to take the opportunity to bring the two together, and having two couples there would also make it convenient for them to switch rooms. As for Fang Jiayuan, he was purely an accessory.

After all, no one in the know would publicly explain what exactly the relationship between Fu Yuhan and Wen Yu was.

Xu Qianyi: I’m picking up @Ge Ran

Song Ting: Sisi and I have already set off!

Sun Wenrui: I’ve set off too, going with Lao Fang to find Mengxian.

Chen Mengxian: I’m ready ^-^

Chu Lei: ???

Chu Lei: Damn, isn’t anyone going to take me? Where are Fu-ge and Yu-ge?

Wen Yu was driving and didn’t have free hands, so Fu Yuhan replied in the group for him.

Fu Yuhan: Yu-ge and I are on the road.

Chu Lei: Come pick me up!! I don’t know the way!! [kneeling.jpg]

Fu Yuhan: I can’t make that decision, let me ask Yu-ge.

Chu Lei: @Wen Yu Daddy!!! Your son is kneeling before you!!!

“Should we go pick up Chu Lei?” Fu Yuhan asked, “He’s asking for help in the group.”

Wen Yu’s whole face wrinkled up, his entire body showing resistance: “Why does he have to ask us for help…”

“Yang Fan went to pick up his girlfriend,” Fu Yuhan smiled, “Xu Qianyi and Ge Ran are one group, Zhao Tong’s two best friends are one group, Lao Sun and Lao Fang are going to find Chen Mengxian, leaving only Chu Lei all alone.”

Wen Yu really wanted to have alone time with Fu Yuhan.

But they weren’t in any legitimate couple relationship right now, so he couldn’t say it out loud.

He struggled with conflicted expressions for a long time, finally accepting his fate and was about to speak—

“If you really don’t want to go, forget it. I’ll refuse him for you.” Fu Yuhan read his expression and suddenly spoke up.

“Don’t,” Wen Yu stopped him, smiling, “forget it, have him send an address. I can still change route now—once we’re on the elevated highway, I really won’t go.”

The fact that Fu Yuhan would consider his feelings was comforting enough. There was no need to really make Chu Lei go up the mountain alone.

That would be too pitiful.

Hearing that Daddy Wen Yu agreed to pick him up, Chu Lei cheered in the group for half a minute, then sent a location. Fu Yuhan casually used that address to set up navigation for Wen Yu.

Wen Yu saw his action from his peripheral vision and couldn’t help but smile.

Although he hadn’t had the chance to break through that barrier yet, this kind of silent intimacy really made him feel good.

Chu Lei’s house wasn’t really on the way to West Mountain, but Wen Yu was unusually not irritated. As soon as they met, Chu Lei first praised Wen Yu’s quietly acquired car extensively, then modestly got into the back seat.

“This is great, I was just looking at the bus routes over there and it made me dizzy. Seems like I’d have to transfer two or three times, and still walk up the mountain at the end.” Chu Lei was grateful to tears, “If Yu-ge hadn’t come to pick me up, I really wouldn’t have known what to do.”

“Normal people usually drive or take a taxi.” Wen Yu didn’t turn his head, “Who takes the bus up a mountain?”

“It’s so expensive,” Chu Lei clutched his chest and complained, “I’m saving money to buy a gaming console.”

Wen Yu was stunned.

Fu Yuhan turned his head and made eye contact with Chu Lei through the rearview mirror: “What gaming console?”

“The pig machine came out with a new model.” Chu Lei said pitifully, “I used to be able to mooch off yours to play, but now I can only buy my own.”

“You’re in senior year, what games are you playing? Do you have time?” Fu Yuhan scoffed.

After laughing, he suddenly froze, because he noticed Wen Yu had glanced at him through the rearview mirror with an ambiguous meaning.

“Whether I have time or not doesn’t conflict with whether I want to buy it. Besides, by the time I save enough money, the college entrance exam will probably be over, perfect for playing during summer vacation.” As Chu Lei spoke, he had a sudden inspiration: “Hey, how about this, Han-zong, do you want to buy one? If you buy it, I’ll come mooch off yours during summer vacation.”

“Not buying.” Fu Yuhan said calmly, “I need to review.”

“…” Chu Lei was speechless, “That’s not like you!”

“Because I…” Fu Yuhan suddenly felt a bit awkward, lightly licked his lips, moved his gaze to the window, pretending to be casual, “want to get into T University.”

“Oh! Right! Then good luck! Let’s play games together in college!”

“…Mm, okay.”

After Fu Yuhan finished speaking, he inconspicuously glanced toward Wen Yu, but the other person had already withdrawn his gaze and was concentrating on driving.

T University…

This year’s New Year came early, so most colleges scheduled their school exams for after the holiday. Fu Yuhan followed his art teacher’s advice and applied to several schools as backup, but his first stop would be T University’s Fine Arts Academy school exam.

The exam was just a few days away, with the nearest test center in the neighboring province’s capital city. Fu Yuhan had made many preparations and already bought his train ticket.

Since it was a cross-provincial exam, this time no one could accompany Fu Yuhan to the exam venue.

But seeing him off at the station was possible.

He had to think about how to tell Wen Yu without seeming too eager.

With the chatty Chu Lei in the car, the two people in the front didn’t say much along the way, but the car wasn’t awkwardly quiet either. After more than an hour, they arrived at the townhouse complex nestled halfway up West Mountain. The various styled townhouses were scattered harmoniously among dense woods—the environment was serene yet lively with the constant flow of visitors.

Wen Yu found the house they had pre-booked and drove into the small courtyard to park. Chu Lei volunteered to do the heavy lifting, and the three of them moved all the drinks and alcohol into the living room before everyone else arrived.

“Since no one’s here yet, can I pick a room first?” Chu Lei looked around after moving the stuff, “Who am I sleeping with tonight anyway?”

“That depends on whether those two couples want to share rooms.” Wen Yu arranged the whiskey he brought in a row on the bar counter by the kitchen door.

“Lao Sun and his girl aren’t even together yet, how could they possibly sleep together?” Fu Yuhan took off his backpack and sat on the sofa, looking down at his phone, “It just depends on whether Yang Fan wants to room with Zhao Tong—if not, you’ll sleep with Yang Fan.”

Wen Yu lifted his eyelids and glanced at Fu Yuhan from afar. The person’s face showed no expression, making it impossible to tell if he was happy or unhappy.

Tsk, Yang Fan.

“Can’t I sleep with you, Fu-ge?” Chu Lei asked, “I want to find someone to chat about games with.”

Before Fu Yuhan could respond, Wen Yu spoke first: “You’re dreaming.”

“Are you two just defaulting to sharing a room?!” Chu Lei looked at one, then the other in shock, finally settling his gaze on Fu Yuhan’s face, “Fu-ge, you weren’t like this before. You two were still fighting during summer vacation.”

“When did I ever fight with Yu-ge? Does verbal sparring count as fighting?” Fu Yuhan didn’t even look up, scoffing lightly, “I used to room with Yang Fan too, but now he has a girlfriend… I don’t want to be a third wheel.”

“Then you have the heart to make me…”

“Who told you to be single?” Fu Yuhan teased him with a sideways glance, got up with his bag and headed upstairs, “I’m staying upstairs. I’ll come down when they arrive.”

Chu Lei couldn’t understand for a long time what his being single had to do with being a light bulb.

Who in this house wasn’t single?

As soon as Fu Yuhan left, Wen Yu quickly followed upstairs. When he got up there, he found Fu Yuhan had already laid down on a bed in one of the rooms.

This room had a huge balcony with a view of West Mountain’s dense forest. The room was simply decorated with beautiful scenery. In Wen Yu’s view, the only drawback was that there were two beds.

Just like a hotel standard room.

“Why should Chu Lei be a light bulb just because he’s single?” Wen Yu asked as he walked.

Fu Yuhan was lying on the bed near the balcony playing with his phone, his two long legs stretched straight out. Hearing this, he glanced at him and raised his chin: “Close the door.”

So Wen Yu’s steps, which had reached halfway, abruptly changed direction.

The wooden door separated the room from the hallway into two spaces. Only then did Fu Yuhan speak: “I can’t exactly tell him it’s because he’s straight, can I? If I room with him, when he barges in to use the bathroom while I’m showering at night, should I kick him out or not?”
